Eliminate Pet Hairs

Is it just me or is pet hair difficult to eliminate with just a hoover? With two cocker spaniels in our home it really does get everywhere and then it clogs your hoover, nightmare! If your carpet has a short pile then remarkably the best tool is a shower squeegee! They might be intended for window cleaning but they were designed to dislodge frost, gunk and other substances that can stick to surfaces, exactly like pet hair on short pile carpets. Wet the squeegee slightly and use it as normal you will be amazed at how much is collected I promise! If your pets tend to travel with you then don’t forget your boot lining in your car as well.

Lint Roller

Do you ever get the feeling that no matter how hard or how many times you hoover there is always dirt, hair and gross stuff that we won’t talk about still stuck in your carpets? This is a common issue when you have a thicker pile carpet and even the most powerful hoovers can’t clean the fibres as well as you would like them to. Here’s a quick carpet cleaning tip for you, grab a lint roller and set to work in those problematic areas, you should quickly notice all the mess being lifted away. Plus it’s a great workout as well!

Hoover Often

It’s a bit of an obvious one but hoovering often will protect your carpet in the long run. Dust, Hair and Soils attract more build up so eliminating these will reduce the amount attracted. Hoover the rooms you use the most at least twice a week if you can and for guest bedrooms or less used spaces hoovering once a week or just before guests arrive should be fine. If pets are at home hoovering is recommended to help alleviate any microscopic allergens, hair and dirt out of your carpet.

Clean Filters or bags

I find it so easy to forget about the filters in my hoover but did you know a dirty filter or bag can half a hoovers suction power! The main reason bagless hoovers stop working is that their filters need a bit of TLC. Replace or wash and air dry (if possible) every month or two. If you own a hoover with a collector bag then replace it when the bag is around ¾ full, just a little carpet cleaning tip to avoid future issues.
