Working at height calls for the right equipment, but with several types of access equipment available it’s not always obvious which one suits a particular job.

Scissor lifts are well suited to larger jobs where you need to move a reasonable platform across a wide area at height, such as ceiling work, warehouse maintenance or external building work, offering a stable, spacious working platform.

Towers and podiums, on the other hand, are a better fit for smaller, more focused jobs, particularly indoors or in tighter spaces. Podiums in particular are quick to set up and move, making them ideal for shorter jobs where a full tower would be overkill.

Ladders and steps still have their place for very short, simple tasks, but for anything involving sustained work at height, a proper piece of access equipment is a safer and more efficient choice.

If you’re unsure which option fits your job, it’s worth getting advice before you hire. IT Plant Hire supplies scissor lifts, towers, podiums, ladders and steps across Crewe, Stoke, Staffordshire and Cheshire.
